Natural Family Planning (NFP), also referred to as Fertility Awareness Methods (FAM), involves tracking ovulation to determine when a woman is fertile. This is done by learning to observe signs and symptoms of different biologic markers indicating fertility. These biologic markers include observations of cervical mucus, basal body temperature, and hormone levels. The practice is safe, effective, and can be used by couples to both avoid or achieve pregnancy. These methods help couples plan their families in a way that is consistent with their values and beliefs. At Natural Family Planning Physician, I provide information and resources about NFP to help couples make informed decisions about their health.
